Job Summary:
As a Building Envelope Consultant, you will be responsible for evaluating, designing, and overseeing the performance of building enclosure systems including roofing, waterproofing, faƧades, windows, and insulation. You will work closely with architects, engineers, and contractors to ensure that building envelopes are energy-efficient, durable, and compliant with local codes and environmental conditions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct on-site inspections and forensic investigations of building envelope systems.
- Assess existing buildings for envelope performance, including identifying leaks, thermal bridging, and material degradation.
- Design and detail building envelope systems for new construction and renovation projects.
- Review architectural and structural drawings for envelope-related issues.
- Perform diagnostic testing (e.g., water penetration, air leakage, infrared thermography).
- Prepare technical reports, specifications, and remediation recommendations.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure quality and performance standards.
- Stay current with building codes, materials, and technologies relevant to envelope design.
- Travel to project sites, including inter-island travel in Hawaii or regional travel in Southern California.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering, Building Science, or related field.
- 3+ years of experience in building envelope consulting or related construction/engineering roles.
- Familiarity with local climate challenges (e.g., high humidity in Hawaii, seismic considerations in LA).
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work at heights, in confined spaces, and in varying weather conditions.
- Valid driver's license and ability to pass background and drug screening.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with LEED, Passive House, or other sustainable building certifications.
- Knowledge of local building codes and permitting processes.
- Experience with construction administration and quality assurance.
