About the Opportunity
A well-established employee-owned engineering, planning, and surveying consulting firm is seeking a Construction Inspector to support transportation and infrastructure projects throughout Indiana. This position offers the opportunity to work on impactful roadway, bridge, utility, and municipal improvement projects while collaborating with experienced engineers, contractors, and public agencies.
Responsibilities
- Perform field inspections on transportation, roadway, bridge, and infrastructure construction projects.
- Monitor contractor activities to ensure compliance with project plans, specifications, permits, and quality standards.
- Document daily construction activities, quantities, progress reports, and project records.
- Conduct material sampling and testing as required by project specifications.
- Review and verify pay quantities and contractor invoices.
- Coordinate with project managers, engineers, contractors, and agency representatives.
- Identify potential construction issues and communicate findings promptly.
- Ensure adherence to safety regulations and project requirements.
- Attend project meetings and provide construction status updates.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or associate's degree in Civil Engineering Technology, Construction Management, or related field preferred.
- Experience inspecting roadway, bridge, utility, or municipal construction projects.
- Familiarity with INDOT construction standards, specifications, and procedures preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering plans, specifications, and contract documents.
- Experience preparing field reports and maintaining construction documentation.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and construction documentation software.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project sites throughout Indiana.
