Location: Southern California (Carlsbad Area Preferred)

About the Opportunity

Our client is seeking an experienced EPC Project Manager to lead the successful delivery of complex industrial and infrastructure projects from contract award through commissioning and project closeout. This role is responsible for overseeing all phases of project execution, including engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, budgeting, scheduling, risk management, and client communication.

The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership skills, hands-on construction management experience, and a proven track record of delivering projects safely, on schedule, and within budget.

Responsibilities

  • Lead projects from contract award through commissioning and final closeout.
  • Manage multidisciplinary teams across engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, project controls, and field operations.
  • Develop and maintain project execution plans, schedules, budgets, forecasts, and resource plans.
  • Oversee project financial performance, including cost control, forecasting, change management, and profitability.
  • Administer contracts and ensure compliance with project requirements and contractual obligations.
  • Coordinate closely with construction leadership to support safe and efficient project execution.
  • Manage subcontractors, vendors, and suppliers, ensuring performance, schedule adherence, and contract compliance.
  • Review project risks and implement mitigation strategies throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Lead project meetings and communicate progress, schedule updates, financial performance, and risk status to stakeholders.
  • Support procurement activities, supplier management, and contract negotiations.
  • Collaborate with project controls teams to develop and maintain schedules using Primavera P6 or similar scheduling software.
  • Ensure compliance with QA/QC standards, safety requirements, environmental regulations, and client specifications.
  • Foster strong relationships with clients, consultants, contractors, and internal project teams.

Qualifications

Required Experience

  • 10+ years of EPC, design-build, or industrial infrastructure project management experience.
  • Proven experience managing projects through engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and startup.
  • Strong construction management and field coordination background.
  • Experience managing subcontractors, vendors, and construction contracts.
  • Demonstrated success managing budgets, forecasts, project controls, and financial performance.
  • Strong understanding of risk management, change management, and contract administration.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.

  • Municipal wastewater treatment
  • Industrial wastewater treatment
  • Renewable energy facilities
  • Biogas and anaerobic digestion systems
  • Industrial process facilities
  • Resource recovery infrastructure

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related technical discipline.
  • PMP certification is a plus.

Location & Travel

  • Candidates must be located in California, with Southern California strongly preferred.
  • Travel to project and construction sites will be required based on project needs.
