Position: Geotechnical Project Manager

Location: Petaluma, Novato, or Napa

Salary: $100-150k

Summary:

This is an opportunity with an employee-owned firm with over 30 years of experience providing geotechnical, geological, and geo-civil engineering services to public and private clients throughout Northern California. With offices in Novato, Petaluma, and Napa, they specialize in geotechnical planning, hazard analysis, foundation engineering, construction monitoring, and distressed property evaluation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage geotechnical investigations, analyses, and design for residential, commercial, and public infrastructure projects.
  • Develop project scopes, budgets, and schedules; monitor progress and ensure timely delivery.
  • Lead field programs including subsurface exploration, laboratory testing, and construction observation.
  • Prepare and review geotechnical reports, foundation recommendations, slope stability analyses, and seismic hazard evaluations.
  • Coordinate with clients, contractors, and regulatory agencies to ensure project goals and compliance.
  • Mentor junior engineers and technicians; support professional development and technical training.
  • Contribute to business development through proposal writing and client relationship management.

Qualifications:

  • B.S. or M.S. in Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related field.
  • California PE license required; GE preferred.
  • 5+ years of geotechnical consulting experience
  • Strong technical writing, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in geotechnical software (e.g., GeoStudio, gINT, PLAXIS) and CAD/GIS tools.
  • Familiarity with Northern California geology and regulatory environment is a plus.
