Electrical Engineer - Water & Wastewater Infrastructure

Location: Phoenix, AZ (Hybrid Schedule)
Salary Range: $135,000 - $165,000+

Position Overview

We are seeking an Electrical Engineer to support the design and delivery of electrical infrastructure projects for water and wastewater treatment facilities. This role offers the opportunity to work on critical municipal and industrial utility projects, contributing to the planning, design, construction, and startup of essential infrastructure systems.

The ideal candidate has experience with electrical power distribution, motor control systems, and power system studies and enjoys working closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams on complex facility projects.


Key Responsibilities

  • Develop electrical designs for water and wastewater treatment facilities and related infrastructure projects.
  • Perform electrical load calculations and system evaluations to support facility design requirements.
  • Design and specify power distribution systems, motor control centers (MCCs), switchgear, and associated electrical equipment.
  • Develop conduit layouts, electrical raceway systems, and construction documentation.
  • Prepare technical specifications, reports, and engineering calculations.
  • Support short-circuit, voltage drop, harmonic distortion, and power factor analyses.
  • Participate in field investigations, site assessments, and construction support activities.
  • Assist with equipment startup, testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting efforts.
  • Coordinate with civil, mechanical, structural, instrumentation, and process engineering teams.
  • Ensure designs comply with applicable industry codes, standards, and project requirements.
  • Support project delivery from conceptual planning through construction and commissioning.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • 6-12 years of experience in electrical engineering and power distribution system design.
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) license required.
  • Experience designing electrical systems for industrial, municipal, utility, or infrastructure facilities.
  • Familiarity with electrical system calculations including short-circuit analysis, voltage drop, harmonics, and power quality evaluations.
  • Knowledge of medium- and low-voltage electrical distribution systems.
  • Understanding of motor control centers, switchgear, transformers, and standby power systems.
  • Strong working knowledge of NEC, NESC, NFPA standards, and electrical engineering best practices.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and related engineering software.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting water and wastewater treatment facilities.
  • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Experience with power system modeling and analysis software.
  • Field startup, commissioning, and construction support experience.
  • Familiarity with instrumentation, controls, and automation systems used in process facilities.
  • Experience interacting directly with clients, contractors, and utility providers.

Compensation & Benefits

Salary Range: $135,000 - $165,000+, depending on experience, technical expertise, licensure, and overall qualifications.
