Regional Lead - Illinois (REMOTE)

Are you ready to take ownership of your career and lead growth in a high-impact forensic engineering role?

Company Overview:

Our client is a well-established forensic engineering and consulting firm with over 30 years of experience across the residential, construction, and insurance sectors.

Unlike many competitors in the space, the business has intentionally remained independent and employee-led, with a leadership team that brings decades of combined industry experience.

While much of the market is shifting toward private equity-backed growth models, this firm has taken a more measured and people-first approach, prioritising long-term reputation, service quality, and sustainable expansion.

Their expertise spans responding to natural disasters, providing technical investigations, and supporting clients through complex property-related claims and litigation matters.

Position Overview:

This is an exciting opportunity for a Structural Engineer to establish and grow a presence in the Midwest.

With an existing client base already in place and demand coming directly from key partners, you will play a pivotal role in expanding the firm's footprint, while maintaining the high standards that have built their reputation.

You will lead forensic investigations, manage client relationships, and help develop a regional team - all within an environment that offers autonomy, flexibility, and a strong work-life balance.

Roles and Responsibilities:

* Conduct forensic investigations into structural and property-related failures
* Perform assessments relating to wind, flood, fire, and water intrusion damages
* Analyse construction defects and provide remediation recommendations
* Prepare detailed technical reports to support insurance and legal claims
* Provide litigation support and assist with expert witness preparation when required
* Build and maintain relationships with key clients across the region
* Support business development initiatives and regional growth strategy
* Mentor junior engineers and contribute to building a local team presence

Education and Experience Requirements:

* Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
* Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) required
* Proven experience within forensic engineering, building envelope, or structural investigations
* Strong knowledge of building codes, construction practices, and failure analysis
* Experience working with insurance claims, litigation support, or catastrophe response is highly desirable
* Ability to work autonomously and build client relationships in a new region
* Strong communication and report writing skills

Location:

* Fully remote role
* Candidates ideally based in Illinois or surrounding Midwest states (Missouri, Iowa, Kansas, Wisconsin)

Compensation & Benefits:

* Base Salary: $120,000 - $150,000
* Performance Bonuses: Typically $20,000 - $50,000+ during peak seasons (e.g. catastrophe events)
* Ownership Opportunity: Potential to gain equity after the first year based on performance and long-term commitment
* Travel: 2 days per week on average (up to 4 days during peak periods)
* Work-Life Balance: A more sustainable model without aggressive PE-driven revenue pressures

Why This Opportunity?

This is a unique chance to step into a leadership role within a growing, independent firm, where you can have a direct impact on both business growth and technical delivery without the constraints often seen in larger, private equity-backed organisations.
