A growing engineering consulting firm is seeking an experienced Water/Wastewater Project Manager to lead complex municipal and utility projects involving potable water, recycled water, and wastewater systems. This is an opportunity to take ownership of high-impact projects, mentor talented engineers, and work directly with clients on critical infrastructure that serves communities throughout California.

What You'll Do

As a senior leader, you'll guide projects from planning through design and construction while serving as a trusted advisor to clients and internal teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the planning, design, and delivery of water, recycled water, and wastewater conveyance projects.
  • Manage multidisciplinary engineering teams and coordinate technical staff, designers, and subconsultants.
  • Oversee project schedules, budgets, and resource allocation.
  • Review engineering deliverables and ensure quality standards are met.
  • Perform and oversee hydraulic analyses, system evaluations, and technical studies.
  • Support development of construction plans, specifications, and cost estimates.
  • Coordinate permitting efforts and regulatory compliance activities.
  • Participate in field investigations, site assessments, and construction support.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships.
  • Contribute to business development, proposal preparation, and strategic growth initiatives.
  • Mentor junior engineers and help develop future technical leaders.

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred, ideally in California.
  • 10+ years of experience in water, wastewater, or utility infrastructure engineering.
  • Previous experience managing engineering projects and leading technical teams.
  • Strong understanding of pipeline, pump station, storage, conveyance, or utility infrastructure projects.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and technical writing skills.
  • Ability to effectively manage clients, budgets, schedules, and project teams.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience working with municipal agencies, water districts, or public utility clients.
  • Familiarity with California regulatory and permitting requirements.
  • Experience supporting business development and winning new work.
  • Background in hydraulic modeling, master planning, or utility system assessments.
