Location: Coppell, TX (Hybrid: 3 Days Onsite / 2 Remote)

A leading data center organization is seeking an Operations Engineer with a strong mechanical or electrical engineering background to support the reliability, performance, and continuous improvement of mission‑critical systems. This role combines day‑to‑day operational support with engineering design review, major capital project involvement, and commissioning activities. Professional Engineering (P.E.) certification is preferred.
About the Role
The Operations Engineer will work closely with both operations teams and construction engineering to ensure the safe and efficient operation of electrical and mechanical infrastructure. This includes supporting troubleshooting efforts, maintaining design standards, reviewing technical procedures, and participating in system upgrades, retrofits, and new facility projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and resolve site-level mechanical and electrical system issues
- Support troubleshooting, maintenance, and daily operational needs for critical infrastructure
- Maintain design standards for mission‑critical MEP systems
- Review and approve technical documents including MOPs, ERGs, FIGs, cold‑start procedures, and change requests
- Provide engineering guidance to operations teams, vendors, and partners
- Participate in engineering design reviews and commissioning for new builds, retrofits, and equipment replacements
- Contribute to performance monitoring, including diagnosing and correcting PUE anomalies
- Assist with annual budgeting for site‑level engineering needs
- Participate in a rotating on‑call schedule for emergency response
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or General Engineering (or equivalent experience)
- P.E. license preferred
- 5+ years' experience in mission‑critical facility design, construction, commissioning, or operations (7+ ideal)
- Strong knowledge of data center electrical systems (UPS, generators, MV gear, STS, redundancy topologies)
- Solid understanding of data center mechanical systems (chillers, cooling towers, RTUs, split systems)
- Strong problem‑solving, communication, and cross‑functional collaboration skills
- Ability to work onsite in Coppell, TX three days per week
