HVAC Controls Engineer
A growing company with an established controls division is looking for an experienced Building Automation Programmer to join the team.
This is a growth hire created to support an expanding workload across Connecticut. You will work on a mixture of new installations, retrofit projects, service upgrades, and system improvements, primarily within schools, colleges, universities, and other educational facilities.
The position is mostly office-based in New Haven, with travel to project sites across Connecticut and some flexibility for hybrid working.
What You'll Be Doing
- Programming and configuring building automation and HVAC control systems
- Developing control sequences, databases, graphics, and system integrations
- Supporting new construction, retrofit, commissioning, and service projects
- Troubleshooting software, network, controller, and system performance issues
- Working closely with project managers, engineers, technicians, and field teams
- Providing technical support during installation, startup, and commissioning
- Reviewing project documentation, sequences of operation, and control drawings
- Supporting customer training and project handover when required
What We're Looking For
- 5+ years of building automation or HVAC controls experience
- Strong hands-on BAS programming experience
- JCI Metasys proficiency is strongly preferred, but not essential
- Niagara experience would be beneficial
- Experience with graphics, integrations, commissioning, and troubleshooting
- Ability to interpret sequences of operation and mechanical system designs
- Background working as a Controls Programmer, Controls Engineer, Applications Engineer, Systems Specialist, or senior-level Controls Technician
- Ability to commute to the New Haven office and travel to sites across Connecticut
Why Consider It?
- Join a growing controls team with a strong project pipeline in an established company
- Work across a varied mix of programming, retrofit, service, and new-installation projects
- Opportunity to take ownership of technically complex BAS projects
- Exposure to higher education, K-12, college, and institutional facilities
- Some hybrid flexibility, depending on project requirements
If you are an experienced BAS professional looking for greater project ownership and a strong local pipeline, this is an opportunity to join a growing team without being limited to one type of controls project.
