My client is looking to hire a full-time Licensed Land Surveyor or an experienced Survey Technician to join their team in Penfield, NY. This role reports directly to the Director of Land Surveying and is primarily office-based, focusing on boundary and right‑of‑way analysis, data processing, and preparation of mapping deliverables.
Survey Office Technician / Licensed Land Surveyor - Key Duties & Competencies
- Strong grasp of surveying principles, measurement practices, and adjustment techniques.
- Ability to review, evaluate, and refine field‑collected data using various software tools.
- Develop digital terrain models within Bentley OpenRoads.
- Examine, interpret, and trace property and right‑of‑way documents.
- Produce high‑quality survey drawings, including topographic surveys, acquisition mapping, and related plans.
- Process terrestrial LiDAR datasets, register point clouds, and convert extracted information into CADD environments.
- Willingness to assist with fieldwork as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
- 8+ years of experience in land surveying.
- Valid driver's license with a satisfactory motor‑vehicle record.
- Degree in Land Surveying (Associate or Bachelor) is advantageous.
- Familiarity with Bentley OpenRoads Designer is beneficial.
- Knowledge of NYSDOT surveying standards is a plus.
- Experience working with Trimble robotic instruments and GNSS equipment is preferred.
- Background using StarNet, Trimble Business Center (TBC), and terrestrial LiDAR systems is helpful.
- Experience with small Unmanned Aircraft Systems (sUAS) is an added advantage.
