About the Opportunity
An established and rapidly growing civil engineering, land surveying, land planning, and development management firm is seeking an experienced Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) / Survey Manager to lead and expand its surveying operations. The firm partners with residential, commercial, and industrial clients, delivering high-quality surveying and development solutions through a collaborative, client-focused approach.
This leadership role offers the opportunity to oversee survey projects from proposal through final deliverables while mentoring staff, managing client relationships, and supporting the continued growth of the survey department.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and oversee all phases of land surveying projects.
- Review, certify, and sign survey deliverables in accordance with state regulations.
- Lead boundary, topographic, ALTA/NSPS, route, construction, and as-built surveys.
- Coordinate field crews, CAD technicians, and project stakeholders to ensure project success.
- Develop project scopes, schedules, budgets, and resource plans.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, municipalities, developers, and contractors.
- Provide quality control reviews of plats, legal descriptions, survey reports, and mapping products.
- Mentor and develop survey staff to support professional growth and technical excellence.
- Support business development efforts by identifying opportunities, preparing proposals, and fostering client relationships.
- Collaborate closely with civil engineering and development teams to provide integrated project solutions.
- Ensure compliance with company standards, industry best practices, and applicable surveying regulations.
Qualifications
- Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) license required.
- Bachelor's Degree in Surveying, Geomatics, Civil Engineering, or related field preferred.
- 8+ years of progressively responsible surveying experience.
- Previous experience managing survey projects and leading teams.
- Strong knowledge of boundary law, legal descriptions, ALTA standards, and survey procedures.
- Experience with GPS, robotic total stations, data collectors, drones, and modern survey technologies.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D, Carlson Survey, Trimble Business Center, or related software.
- Strong project management, communication, and leadership skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects while maintaining quality and client satisfaction.
