Position Overview
The Project Manager will oversee all phases of heavy civil construction projects - from planning and scheduling to execution, closeout, and client communication. This role requires strong leadership, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple stakeholders while ensuring projects are completed safely, on time, and within budget.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead heavy civil construction projects from preconstruction through closeout.
- Develop project schedules, budgets, work plans, and resource allocations.
- Coordinate daily operations with field supervisors, subcontractors, and suppliers.
- Review project specifications, drawings, and contracts to define scope and deliverables.
- Monitor project progress, controlling costs and managing change orders.
- Maintain strong relationships with clients, inspectors, engineers, and local authorities.
- Conduct regular site visits to ensure safety standards, quality, and productivity.
- Prepare and deliver progress reports to company leadership.
- Identify risks and implement corrective actions as needed.
Qualifications
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (or equivalent work experience).
- Experience managing heavy civil or site development projects.
- Strong knowledge of construction scheduling, project management software, and productivity tools.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Heavy civil construction experience.
- Prior experience managing projects for a small or mid-sized contractor.
- Familiarity with local municipalities, permitting, and regional construction requirements in New England.
