Roadway EI/PE
Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited college or university.
- Engineer Intern (EI) certification required; Florida Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred for senior-level candidates.
- 0-10+ years of roadway design experience, including geometric design of intersections, roadways, urban and rural facilities, and limited-access highways.
- Familiarity with FDOT, AASHTO, and MUTCD design standards and guidelines.
- Previous experience working on FDOT projects is preferred.
- Proficiency with OpenRoads Designer and/or MicroStation.
- Ability to collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary teams while meeting project deadlines.
- Strong verbal, written, and technical communication skills.

Key Responsibilities
- Support and/or lead the design of roadway, highway, interchange, and urban transportation projects for FDOT and local agency clients.
- Perform roadway planning and design activities, including horizontal and vertical alignments, plan and profile development, cross sections, typical sections, maintenance of traffic (MOT) plans, and utility coordination.
- Develop 2D and 3D roadway models in accordance with current FDOT standards.
- Prepare design plans, technical specifications, contract documents, cost estimates, and agency submission packages.
- Coordinate with project managers, engineering teams, public agencies, subconsultants, and stakeholders throughout all phases of project delivery.
- Assist with project schedule development and budget management.
- Review engineering deliverables to ensure quality, accuracy, and compliance with applicable standards.
- Stay informed on roadway design best practices, FDOT criteria, and emerging design technologies.
- Mentor and support junior engineers and technical staff as experience grows.
- Perform additional engineering and project delivery responsibilities as assigned.
