Senior Mechanical Engineer
This role serves as a technical lead within a multidisciplinary project tea, supporting mechanical systems (HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection) for a wide range of facility types, including healthcare, higher education, institutional, government, K-12 education, and commercial/industrial facilities.
Responsibilities
- Serve as Lead Mechanical Engineer on assigned projects
- Produce mechanical design and construction drawings and specifications
- Act as Engineer of Record for assigned work and supervised staff, as applicable
- Serve as the primary technical and client-facing representative for led projects
- Perform and direct evaluations of mechanical equipment and systems
- Prepare design calculations, technical analyses, and assessments
- Develop and oversee BIM/CAD deliverables using Autodesk REVIT and AutoCAD
- Conduct site visits, observe construction progress, and prepare field reports
- Assess mechanical systems in existing facilities
- Deliver projects on schedule and within budget
- Mentor and support the development of junior engineering staff
- Coordinate work with other engineering disciplines and project stakeholders
- Maintain knowledge of applicable codes, standards, and regulations
- Support business development and client relationship efforts
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Architectural Engineering (mechanical focus) from an ABET-accredited program
- 8-15 years of relevant experience in building systems design
- Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in an active U.S. jurisdiction, with NCEES record
- Strong experience with Autodesk REVIT; AutoCAD required
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and PDF markup/review tools
- Solid working knowledge of ASHRAE standards
- Ability to work in person at an office location multiple days per week
- Ability to travel to project sites and client meetings as required
- Ability to perform site surveys, including ladder access
- Valid driver's license and acceptable background record
