Our client is one of the nation's leading Owner's Representative and Project Management firms, specializing in the delivery of complex pharmaceutical, biotechnology, laboratory, and life sciences facilities. With a strong reputation for managing some of the most technically advanced projects in the industry, they are seeking a Senior MEP Construction Manager to join their growing Bay Area team.

This position offers the opportunity to oversee the successful delivery of large-scale life sciences developments valued at $350M+, working directly on behalf of owners to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards.

The Role

As the Senior MEP Construction Manager, you will serve as the owner's representative for all mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection systems throughout the project lifecycle, from preconstruction through commissioning and turnover.

The successful candidate must be located within the San Francisco Bay Area and willing to attend project sites on a weekly basis while maintaining the flexibility of a hybrid work environment.

Working closely with owners, architects, engineers, contractors, and commissioning teams, you will play a critical role in delivering state-of-the-art life sciences and pharmaceutical facilities across Northern California.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead all MEP construction activities on life sciences and pharmaceutical projects valued at $350M+
  • Represent the owner's interests throughout design, procurement, construction, commissioning, and project closeout
  • Manage and coordinate contractors, consultants, vendors, and commissioning providers
  • Review and evaluate design documents for constructability, coordination, and operational performance
  • Oversee project schedules, budgets, quality control programs, and risk mitigation efforts
  • Monitor construction progress and proactively resolve MEP-related challenges
  • Lead commissioning, startup, testing, and turnover activities
  • Ensure compliance with project requirements, industry regulations, and safety standards
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients and project stakeholders
  • Attend active project sites weekly to provide oversight and support project delivery

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of life sciences construction experience
  • Strong experience delivering pharmaceutical, biotech, laboratory, GMP, cleanroom, or advanced manufacturing facilities
  • Extensive MEP construction management experience on large, technically complex projects
  • Demonstrated involvement in projects valued at $350M+
  • Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, controls, fire protection, and commissioning processes
  • Experience working in an Owner's Representative, Construction Management, General Contractor, or similar project delivery environment
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills
  • Must be based within the San Francisco Bay Area
  • Must be willing to visit project sites each week
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities within fast-paced construction environments
