A respected environmental consultancy with offices across New Zealand is seeking a Senior Terrestrial Ecologist to join their expanding team. Known for their science-led approach and commitment to ecological integrity, this firm partners with government agencies, private developers, and conservation groups to deliver impactful environmental solutions.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced ecologist to take a leadership role in a collaborative and forward-thinking organisation. The successful candidate will contribute to a wide range of terrestrial ecology projects, from biodiversity assessments and restoration planning to ecological impact studies and long-term monitoring programs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead terrestrial ecology projects across diverse ecosystems and land uses
  • Design and implement field surveys, data analysis, and ecological reporting
  • Provide technical leadership and mentoring to junior team members
  • Engage with clients, stakeholders, and regulatory bodies to ensure project success
  • Contribute to business development and proposal writing as needed

Ideal Candidate Profile:

  • 8+ years of experience in terrestrial ecology, preferably within New Zealand
  • Strong fieldwork capabilities and ecological assessment experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven ability to manage projects and lead multidisciplinary teams
  • A genuine passion for biodiversity conservation and ecological science
