Travel PLC Programmer
We are seeking an experienced PLC Programmer to support the delivery of critical control systems across data centre projects nationwide. This role offers significant exposure to large-scale, technically complex environments, with up to 60% travel and a clear pathway for long-term career growth within the organisation.
The role sits within an established controls and automation specialist delivering mission-critical data center projects across the US. The organisation operates in technically demanding environments where reliability, quality, and structured delivery are essential. Engineers are supported with strong engineering standards, collaborative teams, and ongoing development opportunities as the business continues to grow.
- Design, develop, and implement PLC control software for data centre systems
- Modify and optimise existing PLC programs to meet evolving project requirements
- Support factory and site acceptance testing activities
- Commission control systems on site and support integrated systems testing
- Work closely with electrical, mechanical, and commissioning teams on live projects
- Support fault finding and troubleshooting during commissioning and handover phases
- Ensure control logic aligns with specifications, sequences of operation, and standards
- Produce and maintain clear, structured program documentation
- Support system reliability, resilience, and operational performance in critical environments
- Proven experience as a PLC Programmer within industrial or building-related environments
- Strong understanding of control system architecture and structured programming practices
- Experience working on site-based commissioning or project delivery roles
- Ability to diagnose and resolve control logic and system integration issues
- Comfortable travelling nationally, up to approximately 60% of the time
- Professional approach to working in live or mission-critical environments
- Experience delivering projects within data centres or other critical facilities
- Exposure to redundancy strategies, fail-safe design, and resilience concepts
- Experience working alongside BMS, SCADA, or EPMS systems
- Knowledge of industrial networks and communication protocols
- Experience supporting projects from design through to handover
- Experience may include one or more of the following, though training can be provided:
- PLC platforms such as Siemens, Allen-Bradley, Schneider, or equivalent
- Industrial communication protocols and field networks
- Integration with mechanical, electrical, and monitoring systems
This is a travelling role with nationwide project work and up to 60% travel, depending on project phase and workload.
