PROJECT MANAGER - ELECTRICAL UTILITY CONSTRUCTION
ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
An established leader in electrical utility construction is seeking an experienced Project Manager to oversee utility infrastructure projects from planning through completion. This role is ideal for a construction professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and has experience managing project budgets, schedules, field operations, and client relationships.
The Project Manager serves as the primary point of responsibility for project execution, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
* Lead and manage electrical utility construction projects from pre-planning through closeout.
* Ensure projects are completed according to design specifications, budget requirements, and project schedules.
* Coordinate with clients, subcontractors, and field crews to achieve project objectives.
* Prepare project estimates, proposals, and drawing take-offs.
* Monitor project costs, forecast profitability, and manage overall financial performance.
* Coordinate project startup activities, including scheduling, cost tracking, document control, billing, safety requirements, and resource planning.
* Collaborate with field leadership to evaluate project performance and implement corrective actions when necessary.
* Manage relationships with client representatives, union labor, and subcontractors.
* Review and process change orders, RFIs, and customer-requested project modifications.
* Provide project updates and communicate expectations to stakeholders and field teams.
* Ensure adequate staffing, equipment, and materials are available to meet project schedules and safety standards.
* Travel regionally to support project execution and customer needs.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
* 4-7 years of Project Management, Construction Management, Engineering, or related experience within the utility construction industry.
* Proven experience managing project budgets, schedules, and financial performance.
* Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
* Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
* Experience supervising teams and coordinating field operations.
* Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and other business software applications.
* Ability to effectively present information to groups and project stakeholders.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
* Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field.
* Experience working in a union labor environment.
* Knowledge of electrical utility construction practices.
* Experience with transmission, distribution, and substation construction projects.
* Estimating and proposal development experience.
