Environmental Department Lead

They are seeking an Environmental Department Lead to oversee a team of environmental professionals, drive operational performance, support business growth, and provide technical leadership on environmental planning, permitting, and compliance projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of environmental professionals while fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and safety.
- Manage department staffing, workload forecasting, resource allocation, and overall team performance.
- Oversee financial performance, including budgets, utilization, revenue goals, and profitability.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships while supporting business development and proposal efforts.
- Manage environmental projects from planning through completion, ensuring quality, schedule, budget, and client expectations are met.
- Serve as a senior technical advisor on environmental permitting, compliance, and regulatory matters.
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver successful project outcomes.
- Interface with regulatory agencies and stakeholders to support project approvals and compliance requirements.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Studies, Geology, Engineering, Natural Resources, or a related field.
- Experience leading environmental projects and teams in a consulting, engineering, infrastructure, energy, or industrial environment.
- Strong leadership, project management, and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and client relationship management abilities.
Preferred
- Previous department, section, or team leadership experience.
- Environmental permitting and regulatory compliance expertise.
- Business development and client growth experience.
