Job Title: Environmental Specialist

Location: Pittsburgh, PA

Salary: $90,000 - $120,000

Position Overview:

We are seeking an Environmental Specialist to lead wetland delineations and conduct environmental resource field investigations for electric transmission and other energy-related projects. The ideal candidate will thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced, and collaborative environment, leveraging their expertise to advance professionally and grow within today's global landscape.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead environmental field surveys, including wetland and stream delineations, endangered species surveys, and compliance monitoring.
  • Collect and record field data using handheld GPS devices.
  • Prepare detailed wetland delineation reports and other environmental documentation.
  • Conduct data analysis and interpret environmental findings for project applications.
  • Interface with regulatory agencies to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local environmental regulations.
  • Apply knowledge of wetland delineation, restoration, and design to project requirements.
  • Perform ecological and endangered species field surveys, ensuring adherence to the Endangered Species Act.
  • Mentor and supervise team members when assigned, providing guidance and performance feedback.
  • Support project managers with scheduling, budgeting, and proposal preparation.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Biology, Environmental Science, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in environmental fieldwork, including wetland delineations.
  • Proven expertise in wetland delineations in OH, WV, PA, VA, or surrounding states; PWS/WPIT certification preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Wetland Delineation Manual (1987) and Regional Supplements.
  • Ability to identify upland and wetland vegetation using field guides and dichotomous keys.
  • Familiarity with Section 401/404 permitting; experience with ORAM and HHEI/QHEI evaluations preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with ArcGIS is a plus.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for technical reporting and client interaction.
