Position Overview
They're on the lookout for a driven Architect who thrives on solving complex challenges and making a tangible difference in the built environment. This is a unique opportunity to join a high-performing team in Chicago, where you'll dive into impactful forensic investigations, uncover the root causes of building envelope failures, and contribute to meaningful solutions that shape safer, more resilient structures across diverse property types.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct on-site investigations of building envelope failures across residential, commercial, and industrial structures.
- Analyze and diagnose issues related to cladding, roofing, fenestration, and wall systems.
- Develop detailed technical reports outlining findings, causation, and remediation strategies.
- Interpret architectural drawings and construction documentation to support forensic evaluations.
- Collaborate with clients, contractors, and code officials to resolve construction-related concerns.
- Manage multiple assignments simultaneously, ensuring timely and budget-conscious delivery.
- Provide expert insights in support of legal proceedings, including litigation and mediation.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture from an NAAB-accredited institution.
- Active architectural license in Illinois (NCARB certification preferred).
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in architectural design or construction-related roles.
- Demonstrated expertise in building envelope systems and failure analysis.
- Familiarity with national building codes (IBC, IRC, IEBC) and performance standards.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Willingness to travel on short notice for field assignments.
- Physical ability to access rooftops and navigate steep-slope surfaces.
