Lead Engineer, Integrated Energy Planning

Position Overview

An established energy infrastructure organization is seeking a Project Controls & Resource Planning Specialist to support the planning, scheduling, forecasting, and performance monitoring of capital, maintenance, reliability, and operational work programs across electric utility infrastructure projects.

This role is responsible for maintaining integrated master schedules, coordinating resource forecasts, analyzing workforce utilization, and supporting operational leadership with data-driven planning and scheduling decisions. The successful candidate will play a critical role in ensuring work is executed efficiently, on schedule, and within budget while maintaining the integrity of scheduling and work management systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and update integrated master schedules for capital, maintenance, reliability, and operational projects.
• Create and maintain scheduling templates, resource models, cost assumptions, and forecasting tools used for project and workforce planning.
• Monitor current and future workload requirements and develop resource forecasts to support efficient project execution.
• Collaborate with operations, project management, construction, and maintenance teams to balance workloads and optimize workforce utilization.
• Support the development of contingency and recovery plans when resource constraints or schedule risks arise.
• Track project performance metrics, labor utilization, productivity trends, and schedule adherence.
• Analyze workload trends and provide recommendations to improve operational efficiency and resource allocation.
• Maintain historical performance, cost, and schedule data to support continuous improvement and more accurate forecasting.
• Establish and implement planning, scheduling, and project controls best practices across the organization.
• Ensure the integrity and accuracy of data within project controls, scheduling, and work management systems.
• Generate routine and ad hoc reports to support management decision-making and operational planning activities.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business Administration, Project Management, or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in project planning, scheduling, project controls, resource management, or a related field.
• Strong understanding of project lifecycle management, forecasting methodologies, and schedule development.
• Experience supporting infrastructure, utility, construction, industrial, or engineering projects.
• Advanced proficiency with scheduling software such as Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, or equivalent project controls platforms.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to evaluate resource demands, productivity metrics, and workload trends.
• Excellent organizational, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other business reporting applications.

Preferred Experience

• Electric utility, transmission, distribution, substation, renewable energy, or infrastructure project experience.
• Workforce planning and resource forecasting in a field operations environment.
• Cost control, earned value management, or project performance measurement.
• Knowledge of construction, maintenance, and operational work processes.
• Experience supporting large capital programs or multi-project portfolios.

Work Environment
