Restoration Engineer Project Manager

A mission-driven environmental consulting firm is seeking an experienced Restoration Engineer - Project Manager to lead habitat restoration, climate adaptation, and green infrastructure projects throughout the San Francisco Bay Area. This is a unique opportunity to join a team focused on nature-based solutions and ecological resilience at the project management level.

About the Role

This position will lead the technical design and implementation of restoration projects, coordinating interdisciplinary teams of engineers, scientists, and planners. Projects may include tidal and riparian restoration, floodplain reconnection, stormwater management, and wetland or stream habitat design. Key Responsibilities

  • Manage ecological restoration, water resources, and natural infrastructure projects from concept through construction

  • Lead project planning, permitting, budgeting, and client coordination

  • Oversee the development of construction documents including grading, planting, erosion control, and hydraulic design

  • Supervise and mentor engineering and technical staff

  • Collaborate with ecologists, biologists, landscape architects, and agency partners

  • Support grant writing, proposal development, and client engagement

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering (or related field)

  • 6+ years of professional experience in restoration engineering

  • Strong background in ecological design and site development

  • Experience preparing plans, specs, and cost estimates (PS&E) for ecological or infrastructure projects

  • California PE license (or ability to obtain within 6 months)

  • Excellent communication, project management, and leadership skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with local and regional regulatory agencies (e.g., BCDC, RWQCB, USACE)

  • Familiarity with HEC-RAS, Civil 3D, HydroCAD, or similar tools

  • Background in wetland, creek, coastal, or urban green infrastructure projects

  • Knowledge of Bay Area climate resilience initiatives and habitat priorities

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary Range: $125,000 - $160,000 annually (commensurate with experience)
