Roadway Engineer - Denver

Our client is a well-established, multi-disciplinary engineering consulting firm seeking a Roadway Design Engineer to join their growing transportation team in Colorado. This is an excellent opportunity for a licensed PE who enjoys leading roadway design efforts, mentoring junior staff, and working alongside a highly collaborative team on a variety of transportation projects including highways, local roadways, bicycle facilities, pedestrian improvements, and drainage infrastructure.

The ideal candidate is self-motivated, technically strong, and eager to contribute to projects from concept development through final design.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead roadway design efforts for transportation improvement projects under the direction of senior leadership.
  • Develop design plans for highways, local roadways, bicycle facilities, pedestrian infrastructure, and related transportation improvements.
  • Prepare construction plans, technical specifications, quantity calculations, and cost estimates.
  • Perform engineering analyses and technical studies.
  • Prepare project documentation, technical reports, and supporting design narratives.
  • Develop preliminary concepts, alignments, layouts, and design alternatives.
  • Coordinate with internal multidisciplinary teams including drainage, structures, and utilities.
  • Mentor and provide guidance to junior engineers and design staff.
  • Assist with project delivery while maintaining quality standards, schedules, and budgets.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in Colorado required.
  • 5+ years of experience in roadway and transportation design.
  • Strong proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D and transportation design software.
  • Experience preparing roadway construction documents and plan sets.
  • Familiarity with MUTCD and applicable local, state, and federal roadway design standards.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary environment.
