Senior Project Manager - Transportation/Public Works

We are currently seeking a highly qualified and experienced professional to join our team as a Senior Transportation Project Manager which will be apart of the Transportation Business Unit.

Key Qualifications and Experience Requirements:

  • Educational Background and Licensure:
    A Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited institution is required. Candidates must also be licensed as a Professional Civil Engineer in California. This licensure must be current and in good standing.

  • Professional Experience:
    Applicants must demonstrate a minimum of (8) eight years of hands-on experience in the planning, design, and execution of public works projects, with a strong emphasis on transportation engineering. This includes, but is not limited to, the design of roadways, intersections, and related infrastructure. Candidates with 15 or more years of equivalent experience without a degree will also be considered.

  • Technical Expertise:
    The role demands a deep understanding of roadway engineering principles and practices. Candidates should have a proven track record of delivering complex transportation projects from concept through construction. Experience in the design of roundabouts, highway interchanges, and facilities for non-motorized transportation (such as bike lanes and pedestrian pathways) is highly desirable.

  • Client and Agency Interaction:
    The successful candidate must be comfortable engaging with clients, stakeholders, and representatives from public agencies. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate technical information clearly and effectively are essential.

  • Familiarity with Caltrans/Local Agencies:
    Prior experience working with Caltrans and/or local agencies is a significant advantage. Familiarity with Caltrans standards, procedures, and project delivery processes will be beneficial in this role.

  • Project Management Experience:
    A minimum of five years of experience managing engineering projects is required. This includes overseeing project teams, coordinating with subconsultants, and ensuring that projects are delivered on time and within budget.

Leadership and Management Responsibilities:

  • Team Supervision:
    The candidate will be responsible for leading and mentoring engineering staff, providing guidance on technical issues, and ensuring high-quality deliverables.

  • Project Oversight:
    Duties include managing project timelines, budgets, and resources. The candidate will be expected to monitor progress, identify potential issues, and implement corrective actions as needed.

  • Contract Administration:
    Responsibilities include preparing and reviewing contracts, developing detailed scopes of work, and generating accurate fee estimates and proposals.

  • Client Relations:
    The candidate will serve as a primary point of contact for clients and public agencies, fostering strong working relationships and ensuring client satisfaction throughout the project lifecycle.

  • Business Development:
    A key component of this role involves identifying and pursuing new business opportunities in the transportation engineering sector. The ability to develop and maintain client relationships and secure new projects is essential. Preference will be given to candidates with established connections and experience in California's Central Coast region.
