Director of Project Execution - BESS (m/w/d)
The company combines battery energy storage systems with proprietary software solutions to help commercial and industrial customers optimise energy consumption, reduce electricity costs, and support the transition to a more flexible energy system. With a growing project pipeline and strong expansion plans, they are looking to bring in a senior leader to build and oversee their delivery function.
This role offers the opportunity to take ownership of the entire execution process for utility-scale and commercial battery storage projects, from contract award through to commissioning and operational handover.
You'll be responsible for ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and in line with technical and regulatory requirements. Working closely with leadership, engineering partners, EPC contractors, grid operators, and customers, you'll play a key role in shaping how projects are delivered as the business continues to grow.
Key areas of responsibility include:
- Leading the end-to-end delivery of battery energy storage projects
- Managing project execution from contract signature through construction, commissioning, and final handover
- Overseeing EPC procurement, contractor management, and commercial negotiations
- Driving project schedules, budgets, risk management, and stakeholder coordination
- Managing grid connection and technical compliance requirements
- Developing delivery standards, processes, and reporting structures to support a growing project portfolio
- Building and leading a high-performing project delivery team
This opportunity would suit someone with a strong background in renewable energy, infrastructure, grid connection, or battery storage project execution who enjoys combining technical delivery, commercial ownership, and leadership responsibilities.
Requirements:
- 8+ years of experience delivering energy or infrastructure projects, including construction management and EPC oversight. Candidates should have direct project execution experience, not purely client-side or controlling exposure. A background in renewable energy (BESS, solar, wind, grid infrastructure, etc.) is strongly preferred.
- Strong understanding of EPC project delivery and construction management
- Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously
- Knowledge of battery energy storage systems and grid connection processes
- Commercial and contractual expertise
- Leadership experience and an interest in building teams
- Fluent German and English
