About the Opportunity
We are seeking a detail-oriented and driven Mechanical Estimator to join a growing mechanical contractor in Raleigh, NC. This individual will play a key role in preparing competitive estimates and proposals for commercial mechanical construction projects, helping secure new business and support continued company growth.
The ideal candidate will have experience estimating HVAC, plumbing, and piping systems and possess a strong understanding of construction costs, project specifications, and subcontractor/vendor relationships.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare accurate and competitive cost estimates for mechanical construction projects.
- Review drawings, specifications, bid documents, and project requirements.
- Perform detailed quantity takeoffs for HVAC, plumbing, and piping systems.
- Solicit and evaluate vendor and subcontractor quotations.
- Develop labor, material, equipment, and subcontractor cost estimates.
- Identify value engineering opportunities and cost-saving solutions.
- Collaborate with project managers, operations teams, and leadership during the preconstruction process.
- Attend pre-bid meetings, site visits, and scope review meetings as required.
- Analyze historical project data and market pricing trends.
- Prepare bid proposals and assist in contract negotiations.
- Support project handoff meetings upon award.
- Maintain strong relationships with clients, suppliers, subcontractors, and general contractors.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of estimating experience within mechanical construction.
- Experience estimating HVAC, plumbing, piping, or sheet metal projects.
- Strong understanding of construction documents and mechanical systems.
- Experience performing detailed takeoffs and cost analysis.
- Proficiency with estimating software and Microsoft Office.
- Ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines simultaneously.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
- Mechanical contractor experience preferred.
