HVAC Project Manager

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Project Manager to manage commercial and/or industrial mechanical construction projects from pre-construction through final closeout.

The Project Manager will take ownership of project financials, scheduling, procurement, subcontractors, client relationships and coordination with field operations. The ideal candidate will have experience working for a mechanical contractor and a strong understanding of HVAC, piping, plumbing and mechanical systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage mechanical construction projects from award through completion.
• Take ownership of project budget, schedule, forecasting and profitability.
• Review drawings, specifications, contracts and project scope.
• Manage submittals, RFIs, change orders and procurement.
• Coordinate equipment and material purchasing, including long-lead items.
• Work closely with Superintendents, Foremen and field teams to maintain project schedules.
• Coordinate with General Contractors, owners, engineers, architects and other trades.
• Manage subcontractors and vendors throughout the project lifecycle.
• Track labour, material and equipment costs against project budgets.
• Identify scope changes and prepare/negotiate change orders.
• Lead project meetings and provide regular progress updates.
• Support billing, cost forecasting and project financial reporting.
• Ensure projects meet required quality and safety standards.
• Manage commissioning, punch lists, closeout documentation and final handover.
• Build strong relationships with clients to support repeat business.

Requirements

• 3+ years of Project Management experience within mechanical construction.
• Experience working for a mechanical, HVAC, plumbing or piping contractor strongly preferred.
• Strong knowledge of commercial mechanical systems, including:
  • HVAC
  • Hydronic piping
  • Plumbing
  • Mechanical equipment
  • Sheet metal / ductwork
• Experience managing project budgets, schedules and change orders.
• Ability to read mechanical drawings, specifications and construction documents.
• Strong commercial awareness and understanding of project cost control.
• Excellent communication and client-management skills.
• Comfortable coordinating between office-based project teams and field operations.

Preferred Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Experience managing projects valued from approximately $1M to $20M+.
• Experience with platforms such as Procore, Bluebeam, Autodesk Construction Cloud or Trimble.
