Project Engineer

Our client is seeking a motivated Project Engineer to join their growing team in Oakland, California. This position offers an excellent opportunity to work on critical underground infrastructure projects that support local communities throughout the Bay Area.

The ideal candidate will have experience supporting the construction of wet utility projects, including storm drain, water pipeline, and sewer line installations, and will be eager to contribute to the successful delivery of complex civil construction projects.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Project Managers and Superintendents with the planning, coordination, and execution of wet utility construction projects.
  • Support projects involving underground storm drain, water, and sewer pipeline installation.
  • Prepare and manage RFIs, submittals, change orders, and project correspondence.
  • Track project schedules, budgets, production quantities, and subcontractor performance.
  • Coordinate with owners, inspectors, engineers, subcontractors, and field personnel.
  • Assist with project procurement, material tracking, and vendor coordination.
  • Maintain accurate project documentation and reporting.
  • Support project closeout activities and ensure contractual requirements are met.
  • Participate in project meetings and provide progress updates.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and environmental standards.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience working on underground wet utility projects as a Project Engineer or Field Engineer.
  • Experience supporting construction projects involving:
    • Storm Drain Systems
    • Water Pipelines
    • Sewer Pipelines
  • Understanding of underground utility construction methods, project controls, and field operations.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contracts.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and construction management software.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project sites as needed.
