About the Role
Our client, a leading national general contractor with a strong presence in the mission critical construction market, is seeking a Senior Mechanical Project Manager to support the delivery of large-scale data center and other technically complex construction projects.
This individual will be responsible for overseeing all mechanical aspects of project execution, ensuring successful delivery while maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality, schedule, and cost performance. The position offers the opportunity to work on some of the most advanced projects in the country with a well-respected and financially stable organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the planning, execution, and closeout of mechanical construction scopes from preconstruction through commissioning.
- Manage project budgets, forecasting, procurement activities, subcontractor agreements, and change orders.
- Coordinate with owners, design consultants, commissioning teams, field leadership, and trade partners throughout all phases of construction.
- Drive project schedules and ensure milestones are achieved while proactively identifying and mitigating risks.
- Oversee mechanical subcontractor performance, productivity, quality, and safety compliance.
- Track project financials and provide accurate reporting to senior leadership.
- Facilitate project meetings and maintain strong communication with clients and stakeholders.
- Mentor Project Engineers and Project Managers while fostering a collaborative team environment.
- Support commissioning, start-up, testing, and turnover activities for critical mechanical systems.
Qualifications
- 8+ years of experience managing mechanical construction projects.
- Previous experience delivering mission critical, data center, advanced manufacturing, healthcare, pharmaceutical, industrial, or other highly technical projects.
- Strong knowledge of HVAC, chilled water, piping, plumbing, and associated mechanical systems.
- Experience managing large subcontractor packages and multimillion-dollar project budgets.
- Strong financial management, scheduling, contract administration, and leadership capabilities.
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field preferred.
- Ability to travel as required.
Preferred Experience
- Data center or mission critical construction experience.
- Familiarity with commissioning and turnover processes for critical infrastructure.
- Expertise in coordinating complex MEP installations across multiple project stakeholders.
- Experience leading mechanical scopes on projects valued in excess of $100M.
