Role Summary
As a GIS Specialist, you will contribute to a variety of environmental and engineering projects by creating, maintaining, and analyzing geospatial data. Working alongside cross-functional teams, you'll provide mapping and GIS support that helps drive project execution, enhance field operations, and deliver high-quality results to clients.
Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain, and analyze GIS datasets for environmental and engineering initiatives.
- Produce maps and geospatial deliverables using data from diverse sources, including field inputs and databases.
- Perform spatial analysis, data processing, and ongoing GIS maintenance activities.
- Support project planning efforts, including preparing technical approaches, cost estimates, and schedules.
- Collect and process GPS data to support accurate field mapping and surveys.
- Execute coordinate transformations, data projections, and georeferencing tasks.
- Collaborate closely with engineering and surveying teams to meet project objectives.
- Assist in optimizing GIS workflows, tools, and system functionality.
- Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and proper metadata documentation.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in GIS, Geography, Environmental Science, or a related discipline.
- At least 4 years of relevant GIS experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Hands-on experience with ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Online (AGOL).
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret and manage spatial data.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools and general data management practices.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Demonstrated problem-solving and organizational abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting infrastructure, environmental, or engineering-related projects.
- Familiarity with GPS data collection and post-processing techniques.
- Experience developing GIS tools, automations, or custom workflows.
- Understanding of geospatial data standards and metadata best practices.
