Substation Engineer (Protection & Control / Physical Design)
Our client is seeking a Substation Engineer to support the design and execution of high-voltage power delivery projects across utility, renewable energy, and grid modernization programs. This position offers the opportunity to work on a diverse portfolio of transmission and distribution substation projects while collaborating with multidisciplinary engineering teams.
The ideal candidate will have experience in either Protection & Control (P&C), Physical Design, or a combination of both disciplines. You will play a key role in delivering engineering packages, coordinating with internal teams and clients, and supporting projects from initial design through construction.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform engineering and design for high-voltage and extra-high-voltage substation projects.
- Develop and review substationdesigndeliverables, including:
- One-line and three-line diagrams
- AC/DC schematics
- Relay and control panel drawings
- Wiring and interconnection diagrams
- Equipment layouts and arrangements
- Grounding plans, conduit layouts, and cable routing
- Communications and SCADA-related drawings
- Support the design and application of protection schemes for transmission lines, buses, transformers, capacitor banks, and other substation equipment.
- Coordinate closely with physical design, relay settings, civil/structural, and commissioning teams to ensure a fully integrated design.
- Perform engineering calculations and studies, including station service sizing, battery calculations, voltage drop analysis, and related design evaluations.
- Review vendor drawings, equipment submittals, and technical documentation.
- Provide technical support during procurement, construction, commissioning, and project execution phases.
- Participate in client meetings, design reviews, and multidisciplinary project coordination.

Location: Flexible / Hybrid options available depending on project and team needs.
Travel: Minimal project-related travel as required.
