CAD Technician (Survey)

Location: Atlanta, GA | Full-Time

About the Opportunity

We are seeking a Survey CAD Technician to join a growing land surveying team. This individual will play a key role in supporting survey projects by preparing accurate drawings, plats, and mapping deliverables for a variety of public and private sector projects. The ideal candidate will have experience working with survey data and be proficient in AutoCAD Civil 3D.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare survey drawings, boundary plats, ALTA/NSPS surveys, topographic surveys, easement exhibits, and construction staking layouts.
  • Process and draft field survey data collected by survey crews.
  • Develop and maintain accurate CAD files, databases, and project documentation.
  • Create legal descriptions, exhibits, and right-of-way plans as needed.
  • Coordinate with Project Managers, Professional Land Surveyors (PLS), engineers, and field staff to ensure project accuracy and quality.
  • Review survey data and drawings for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with company standards.
  • Assist with project setup, file management, and quality control procedures.
  • Support multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines and client expectations.

Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in Drafting, Engineering Technology, Surveying, or related field preferred.
  • 4+ years of experience as a Survey CAD Technician, CAD Drafter, or related role.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D required.
  • Experience preparing boundary, topographic, ALTA, and construction survey deliverables.
  • Working knowledge of survey terminology, coordinate systems, and field-to-finish workflows.
  • Familiarity with GIS, Carlson, MicroStation, or Trimble Business Center is a plus.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience supporting transportation, land development, utility, municipal, or infrastructure projects.
  • Understanding of survey calculations, legal descriptions, and deed research.
  • Knowledge of local and state surveying standards and regulations.
