Survey Manager
About the Opportunity
A nationally recognized engineering, planning, and consulting firm is seeking a Survey Manager to lead survey operations and support a growing portfolio of transportation, infrastructure, and land development projects across Arizona.
This role offers the opportunity to oversee both field and office survey teams, manage complex projects, and play a key role in client development and business growth. Responsibilities
- Manage survey projects from proposal through final deliverables
- Lead and mentor field crews, project surveyors, technicians, and office personnel
- Oversee boundary, topographic, ALTA, right-of-way, construction, and land development surveys
- Review plats, legal descriptions, records of survey, and mapping deliverables
- Coordinate with transportation engineers, land development teams, contractors, and public agencies
- Develop project scopes, schedules, budgets, and resource plans
- Maintain strong client relationships and support business development efforts
- Ensure quality control and compliance with state regulations, industry standards, and company procedures
- Support hiring, training, and professional development initiatives within the survey group
- Contribute to strategic growth initiatives throughout Arizona and the Southwest
Qualifications
- Professional Land Surveyor (PLS/RLS) license required
- 8+ years of progressive land surveying experience
- Experience managing survey projects and leading technical teams
- Strong background in transportation, infrastructure, and land development projects
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Strong communication, leadership, and client management skills
- Valid driver's license
Technical Experience
Experience with several of the following:
- AutoCAD Civil 3D
- Trimble Business Center
- Carlson Survey
- GPS/GNSS technologies
- Robotic total stations
- LiDAR and 3D scanning technologies
- Survey data processing and QA/QC procedures
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting DOT, municipal, or large-scale infrastructure projects
- Existing client relationships within Arizona or the Southwest
- Experience managing project financials, proposals, and business development efforts
- Multi-office leadership experience is a plus
- Interest in practice leadership and long-term regional growth initiatives
