Senior Project Manager - Engineering & Technology Programs

Location: Hybrid (Remote with Quarterly Travel to Alameda, CA)
Salary Range: $140,000 - $170,000+

Position Overview

We are seeking a Senior Project Manager to lead complex engineering and technology initiatives within a highly regulated environment. This role is responsible for coordinating cross-functional teams, managing project execution, and ensuring successful delivery of technical programs involving hardware, software, systems engineering, and digital engineering disciplines.

The ideal candidate combines strong project leadership skills with experience managing technical development efforts, stakeholder expectations, schedules, risks, and execution plans. This position offers the opportunity to work closely with engineers, software teams, product specialists, and business leaders on innovative projects that support critical industries and advanced technologies.


Key Responsibilities

Project & Program Leadership

  • Lead the planning, execution, and delivery of technical projects and multi-functional programs.
  • Develop and maintain integrated project schedules, milestones, dependencies, resource plans, and delivery roadmaps.
  • Facilitate project governance activities and ensure alignment between stakeholders, business objectives, and technical teams.
  • Drive project execution while maintaining visibility into scope, schedule, budget, risks, and deliverables.

Cross-Functional Coordination

  • Partner with engineering, software, quality, systems integration, product development, and operations teams to align project objectives.
  • Coordinate activities across multiple workstreams to ensure successful delivery and effective communication.
  • Organize planning sessions, status reviews, stakeholder meetings, and project workshops.
  • Support decision-making processes by documenting key actions, risks, assumptions, and dependencies.

Schedule, Risk & Performance Management

  • Monitor project performance against established goals and timelines.
  • Identify schedule conflicts, resource constraints, and execution risks.
  • Develop and implement mitigation plans to address potential delivery challenges.
  • Track milestones, deliverables, and project health metrics while communicating status to leadership.

Agile & Process Improvement

  • Facilitate Agile, Scrum, and hybrid project management practices across technical teams.
  • Support backlog management, sprint planning, release planning, retrospectives, and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Establish effective team operating procedures that support collaboration, accountability, and transparency.
  • Promote best practices for project execution and organizational efficiency.

Reporting & Stakeholder Communication

  • Prepare executive-level reports, dashboards, and project performance summaries.
  • Present project updates to leadership and key stakeholders.
  • Develop and maintain action logs, decision logs, risk registers, and project documentation.
  • Ensure stakeholders remain informed of progress, challenges, and critical decisions.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Science, Business, Technology, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of project management or program management experience supporting engineering, software, technology, product development, or technical programs.
  • Experience managing project schedules, milestones, dependencies, and stakeholder communications.
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams in fast-paced technical environments.
  • Working knowledge of Agile, Scrum, waterfall, or hybrid project management methodologies.
  • Strong communication, presentation, facilitation, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to translate technical discussions into actionable plans and measurable outcomes.

Preferred

  • Experience supporting engineering, systems integration, software development, digital engineering, or product development initiatives.
  • Familiarity with systems engineering, requirements management, verification planning, or model-based engineering concepts.
  • Experience working with project collaboration and lifecycle management tools such as Jira, Confluence, Airtable, Windchill, DOORS, IBM ELM, Cameo, MagicDraw, or similar platforms.
  • Experience supporting regulated industries such as life sciences, medical devices, pharmaceuticals, aerospace, defense, or advanced manufacturing.
  • PMP, PMI-ACP, Certified Scrum Master, or similar project management certification.

Work Environment

  • Hybrid work environment with remote flexibility.
  • Candidates must be able to travel to Alameda, California at least quarterly for project meetings and team collaboration.
  • Additional travel may be required based on project needs.
  • Collaborative environment with cross-functional engineering and technical teams.

Compensation & Benefits

Salary Range: $140,000 - $170,000+, depending on experience, technical background, certifications, and overall qualifications.
