Vice President - Washington Transportation
A nationally recognized engineering consulting firm is seeking a Vice President of Transportation to lead, grow, and expand its transportation practice throughout Washington State.
This is a high-impact leadership opportunity for an established transportation professional with a strong combination of technical expertise, client relationships, business development success, and team leadership experience. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving strategic growth, developing key client partnerships, leading major transportation pursuits, and building a high-performing team throughout the region.

Leadership responsibilities, business development, transportation project oversight, team management, and market growth requirements align with transportation leadership guidance.
Responsibilities
- Lead and grow the Washington transportation practice across roadway, highway, bridge, transit, traffic, and multimodal transportation markets
- Develop and execute strategic business plans to increase market share and revenue growth
- Build and strengthen relationships with key clients, transportation agencies, and industry partners
- Lead major pursuit efforts, interviews, strategic proposals, and contract negotiations
- Oversee project delivery, profitability, quality management, and resource allocation
- Recruit, mentor, and develop transportation professionals across multiple offices
- Partner with executive leadership on growth strategies, staffing plans, and operational initiatives
- Collaborate with transportation leaders across the organization to deliver complex, multidisciplinary projects
- Represent the firm at industry events, conferences, professional organizations, and client functions
- Establish the firm as a leader within the Washington transportation market
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or related field
- Professional Engineer (PE) license required
- 15+ years of progressive transportation engineering experience
- Significant leadership experience managing transportation teams, offices, or business units
- Proven track record of business development, client management, and revenue growth
- Strong understanding of transportation project delivery and agency requirements
- Excellent communication, leadership, and relationship-building skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Existing relationships with WSDOT, local municipalities, transit agencies, counties, ports, or other transportation stakeholders throughout Washington
- Experience managing transportation practices with responsibility for sales, profitability, and team growth
- Demonstrated success winning and delivering major transportation programs
- Experience developing and mentoring future transportation leaders
- MBA or advanced degree is a plus

- Transportation planning
- Traffic engineering and operations
- Transit and rail projects
- Complete streets and multimodal transportation
- Program management
- Design-build projects
