Lead Infrastructure Engineer
Salary: $115,000 - $150,000 (commensurate with experience)
About the Opportunity
A growing engineering consulting firm is seeking a Lead Infrastructure Engineer to support and lead the delivery of municipal water, wastewater, and stormwater infrastructure projects. This role offers the opportunity to work on a variety of utility and conveyance projects while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and public-sector clients.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in civil engineering design for municipal infrastructure and a passion for delivering impactful projects that improve community services and resiliency.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the planning, design, and execution of municipal water and wastewater infrastructure projects.
- Prepare, review, and oversee engineering designs for:
- Water distribution systems
- Wastewater collection systems
- Transmission pipelines and force mains
- Pump stations
- Civil site improvements associated with utility infrastructure
- Coordinate with engineers, planners, scientists, and technical specialists throughout project delivery.
- Conduct field investigations, site visits, and technical evaluations to support project development.
- Ensure designs comply with applicable local, state, and federal regulations.
- Develop engineering calculations, technical reports, specifications, and construction documents.
- Support project pursuits through proposal development, presentations, and technical interviews.
- Maintain strong relationships with municipal and utility clients.
- Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior engineering staff.
- Support project planning, budgeting, scheduling, and quality control efforts.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license required or ability to obtain through reciprocity.
- 5+ years of experience in civil engineering with a focus on municipal water, wastewater, or utility infrastructure projects.
- Experience designing and delivering conveyance-related projects such as pipelines, pump stations, collection systems, or water distribution systems.
- Strong understanding of utility design standards, permitting requirements, and public agency coordination.
- Experience working directly with municipal clients and project stakeholders.
- Proficiency with Civil 3D and related engineering design software preferred.
- Strong communication, leadership, and project coordination skills.
