Location: New Hampshire

Salary: $90,000 - $110,000

Position Overview:

A growing environmental consulting and engineering firm is seeking an experienced Wetland Project Scientist to support infrastructure and land development projects throughout New England. This role is responsible for leading wetland delineations, ecological assessments, environmental permitting efforts, compliance monitoring, and regulatory coordination. The position works closely with engineers, planners, and project managers to deliver environmentally responsible and compliant project solutions while supporting clients through all phases of project development and construction.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead wetland delineations, functional assessments, and ecological studies for infrastructure and development projects.
  • Review project construction documents and requirements, including NH DOT plans and specifications.
  • Guide local, state, and federal permitting efforts, including Section 404 Clean Water Act approvals and NHDES Dredge/Fill Permits.
  • Maintain environmental compliance matrices and prepare detailed compliance reports.
  • Conduct field visits to evaluate construction impacts on wetlands and ensure compliance with permit conditions.
  • Monitor construction activities for compliance with the NPDES Construction General Permit and other environmental permits.
  • Attend and present at regulatory coordination meetings to support project teams and clients.
  • Partner with engineers, planners, and project managers to integrate environmental considerations into project design.
  • Prepare technical reports, permit applications, and regulatory documentation for clients and agencies.
  • Contribute to project planning, team discussions, and technical deliverables.
  • Mentor junior staff and support a collaborative team environment.
  • Support client relationships and assist in fostering new business opportunities.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Water Resources, Natural Resources, Geology, Ecology, Soil Science, or a related field.
    * 7+ years of experience in environmental consulting, wetland science, or ecological compliance.
    * NH Certified Wetland Scientist (CWS).
    * Experience supporting NH DOT projects, including wetland delineation, environmental permitting, and construction monitoring.
    * Strong knowledge of federal and New Hampshire environmental regulations.
    * Experience overseeing construction compliance with the NPDES Construction General Permit and other environmental permits.
    * Previous experience presenting complex projects in public settings.
    * Strong technical writing skills with the ability to prepare clear, accurate, and formal reports.
    * Strong leadership, organizational, and client management skills.
    * Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.

Preferred Experience/Skills:

  • OSHA certifications.
  • NH Certified Soil Scientist (CSS).
  • Wildlife monitoring and botanical survey experience.
  • 5+ years of experience overseeing construction compliance with the NPDES Construction General Permit and other environmental permits.
  • Knowledge of Massachusetts, Connecticut, and/or Rhode Island environmental regulations.
  • Strong field investigation, environmental permitting, and compliance monitoring experience.
