Area Manager - Geotechnical Construction

We are looking for an individual who can blend technical insight with commercial instinct to help expand our presence across the greater Washington, DC construction market. This position sits at the intersection of engineering, client strategy, and project development, guiding opportunities from initial conversation through award.

What You'll Take Ownership Of

Growing the Market

  • Strengthening the company's visibility and reputation with developers, engineers, general contractors, and project owners
  • Keeping a pulse on regional opportunities and identifying work that aligns with our capabilities
  • Attending industry gatherings, client meetings, and market events as the face of the company
  • Acting as a knowledgeable resource for clients during early project conversations

Driving Preconstruction Success

  • Analyzing subsurface data, engineering reports, and project drawings to understand risk and feasibility
  • Working alongside estimating and operations to shape solutions that are competitive, safe, and constructible
  • Influencing pursuit strategies, scope development, alternative approaches, and value‑driven design ideas
  • Contributing to proposals, interviews, and technical deliverables

Supporting Strategic Priorities

  • Monitoring competitor activity, major upcoming projects, and market shifts
  • Helping refine plans for key accounts and targeted market segments
  • Documenting client discussions, opportunity details, and pursuit milestones within the CRM

The Background That Fits This Role

Must Have

  • Degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related technical field
  • At least five years of industry experience, ideally including geotechnical, deep foundation, or specialty construction exposure
  • Strong understanding of ground‑related construction systems (e.g., shoring solutions, soil mixing, micropiles, drilled foundations, ground improvement)
  • Confidence communicating technical topics to both engineers and commercial stakeholders
  • Ability to evaluate and interpret geotechnical reports and design documentation

Nice to Have

  • Prior experience in estimating, project engineering, PM roles, or business development
  • EIT or PE credential
  • Familiarity with key players in the Metro DC construction landscape
