Bridge Engineer

My client, a national engineering consultancy, is continuing to grow its South Carolina transportation practice and is looking to bring on a Bridge Engineer in South Carolina.

This firm is well known for delivering large-scale transportation and infrastructure projects, backed by a strong backlog, long-term client relationships, and 100% employee ownership across a 6,000-person organization. The role offers a mix of leadership, technical oversight, and client-facing work, supported by a collaborative culture, hybrid flexibility, and strong opportunities for career growth.


The Bridge Engineer will be responsible for:

  • Managing bridge and transportation projects from proposal through delivery, including scope, schedule, budget, and client coordination
  • Leading and mentoring junior engineers and design staff
  • Reviewing technical deliverables including bridge plans, structural analyses, and design calculations
  • Coordinating with internal teams, DOT clients, and other stakeholders
  • Supporting business development efforts and helping maintain strong client relationships
  • Ensuring projects meet regulatory requirements, quality standards, and deadlines

The Bridge Engineer should have the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field
  • Active Professional Engineer (PE) license required
  • Proven experience delivering bridge and transportation projects
  • Strong leadership and communication skills with experience managing or mentoring teams
  • Familiarity with South Carolina or Southeast transportation markets is a plus
  • Experience with OpenBridge software and managing multiple projects concurrently
