Bridge Inspection Team Leader- Remote

Location: Greater Boston Area, MA (Remote Schedule Available)
Must reside in Massachusetts

I'm partnered with a well-established consulting engineering firm seeking a Bridge Inspection Team Leader to support and lead bridge and tunnel inspection efforts throughout Massachusetts.

This role offers the opportunity to take a leadership position on critical infrastructure projects, working closely with public agencies, coordinating inspection activities, mentoring junior staff, and contributing to the long-term condition assessment of transportation assets.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and perform bridge and tunnel inspections in accordance with NBIS requirements.
  • Prepare and review inspection reports and structural condition assessments.
  • Coordinate inspection schedules, access requirements, traffic control, and stakeholder communications.
  • Perform in-depth inspections utilizing specialized access methods and testing techniques.
  • Support post-event inspections and provide recommendations regarding structural safety and serviceability.
  • Provide guidance, mentoring, and technical oversight to inspection staff.
  • Assist with bridge load ratings and related structural engineering assignments.

Qualifications

  • Currently qualified as an NBIS Bridge or Tunnel Inspection Team Leader.
  • Experience leading inspection teams and working directly with clients or public agencies.
  • Strong understanding of bridge inspection practices, procedures, and documentation.
  • Ability to work flexible hours as needed for field access requirements.
  • Comfortable performing fieldwork that may require climbing, working at heights, and accessing challenging environments.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and familiarity with AutoCAD.

Preferred

  • PE license.
  • MassDOT and/or MBTA inspection team leader approval.
  • FHWA/NHI bridge and tunnel inspection training.
  • Additional bridge inspection certifications and coursework.
  • Valid driver's license.
