Business Development Manager
Job Description
Business Development Manager - O&M (Commercial Contracts)
Location: Taipei, Taiwan
Languages: Mandarin & English (business‑fluency)
Sector: Offshore Wind - Operations & Maintenance (O&M)
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Business Development Manager to lead commercial strategy and partnership development within the offshore wind sector. This role will focus not on direct competition with traditional O&M providers or EPCI companies, but on pursuing a unique, long‑term value-driven strategy that complements the broader offshore wind ecosystem.
The successful candidate will play a key role in shaping commercial frameworks, developing customer relationships, identifying new market opportunities, and securing long-term O&M contracts-while building differentiated offerings in a rapidly growing sector.
Key Responsibilities
Business Development & Market Strategy
- Develop and execute a non‑competing, differentiated commercial strategy within Taiwan's offshore wind O&M market.
- Identify new commercial opportunities and long-term partnerships aligned with strategic value creation.
- Monitor industry trends, regulatory developments, and market dynamics across Taiwan and wider APAC.
- Support strategic planning for new service offerings, JV structures, or partnership models.
Commercial Contracting
- Lead the end-to-end contracting process for O&M services, including tendering, commercial negotiations, contract structuring, and risk assessments.
- Develop commercial proposals, pricing strategies, and value propositions tailored to client needs.
- Collaborate with legal, finance, engineering, and technical teams to align on commercial terms.
- Ensure commercial contracts are compliant with local regulations and aligned with company strategy.
Client & Stakeholder Engagement
- Build and maintain strong relationships with developers, asset owners, OEMs, utilities, suppliers, and government stakeholders.
- Represent the company in meetings, workshops, and industry forums to strengthen brand presence.
- Serve as the commercial point of contact for O&M-related discussions with external partners.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with internal teams (engineering, operations, project management, HSE, supply chain) to develop commercially robust solutions.
- Support internal investment cases and business reviews for new initiatives or partnerships.
Long-Term Value Creation
- Drive strategies that enhance lifecycle asset value and cost efficiency for clients.
- Evaluate opportunities for digitalisation, predictive maintenance, portfolio optimisation, and innovative O&M models.
Qualifications & Experience
Essential
- 5-10+ years of experience in business development, commercial contracts, or strategic partnerships, ideally in offshore wind, renewables, or large-scale infrastructure.
- Strong experience in O&M, service contracts, or commercial negotiations.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills in Mandarin and English.
- Strong stakeholder management skills and ability to engage with senior clients and partners.
- Experience in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating complex commercial contracts.
Preferred
- Experience in offshore wind in Taiwan or broader APAC region.
- Understanding of Taiwan's offshore wind regulatory framework, local content requirements, and supply chain ecosystem.
- Familiarity with long-term service agreements, vessel operations, maintenance strategies, or asset management.
Personal Attributes
- Strategic thinker with strong commercial acumen.
- Collaborative, diplomatic, and skilled in building long-term relationships.
- Proactive, adaptive, and able to work in a dynamic and evolving sector.
- Strong problem-solver with ability to navigate ambiguity and develop tailored solutions.
