About the Role

My client is a dynamic and forward-thinking Business Development Manager to join their team in Tokyo. In this role, you will spearhead the planning, development, and sales of next-generation infrastructure essential for the widespread adoption of electric vehicles (EVs) in Japan.

You will take full ownership of the business development cycle-from identifying opportunities and building partnerships to negotiating deals and securing contracts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the expansion and sales strategy for battery-integrated ultra-fast EV chargers, including franchise development.
  • Drive new business initiatives for energy management services utilizing battery storage.
  • Collaborate with strategic partners to scale directly operated EV charging stations.
  • Manage end-to-end client engagement: prospecting, proposal development, negotiation, and closing.

Required Qualifications

  • Proven experience in new business development or product sales in the mobility or energy sector (e.g., EV chargers, battery storage, solar, or electricity retail).
  • Strong passion for transforming the energy and mobility industries.
  • Fluent Japanese communication

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience collaborating with automotive or utility companies on new business initiatives.
  • Project management skills (timeline, cost, and resource management).
  • Budget planning and financial oversight experience.
  • Contract negotiation and documentation experience.
  • Demonstrated leadership in cross-functional teams.
  • Business-level English proficiency.
