Role Overview
Reporting to the Chief Estimator, the Federal Preconstruction Estimator will contribute to high-profile federal construction projects. This role involves detailed scope development, subcontractor coordination, and proposal support.
Responsibilities:
- Review solicitation documents for completeness and clarity
- Solicit and manage subcontractor/vendor bids
- Develop scope packages using narratives, checklists, and quantity take-offs
- Analyze proposals for accuracy and completeness
- Prepare price analysis sheets
- Collaborate with design teams on design-build proposals
- Assist in defining scopes for subcontractor/vendor agreements
Skills & Qualifications:
- Ability to manage multiple projects independently and collaboratively
- Strong understanding of construction documents and scope development
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organizational and analytical abilities
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word
- Experience with On-Screen Takeoff or similar software is a plus
- Familiarity with estimating software (Sage Estimating preferred)
Experience:
- Minimum of 6 years in the construction industry with estimating experience
- At least 3 years of continuous service at one company
- Experience with fixed-price, design-build, or self-perform estimating preferred
- Government project experience is a plus
- Background in sitework, concrete, steel, or interiors is beneficial
