Roadway Design Engineer (EIT)

Location: Fort Worth, TX

Position Summary

We are seeking a Roadway Design Engineer (EIT) to support the planning, design, and delivery of municipal transportation infrastructure projects throughout Fort Worth and the surrounding communities in Tarrant County. This role will focus on roadway, paving, drainage, intersection, and capital improvement projects for municipal clients, with significant exposure to the City of Fort Worth's Capital Improvement Program (CIP) and local agency infrastructure initiatives.

The ideal candidate will have experience in roadway design, plan production, and municipal project delivery, while working closely with project managers, public works departments, and multidisciplinary engineering teams.

Responsibilities

  • Develop roadway design plans, profiles, alignments, cross sections, and construction documents for municipal infrastructure projects.
  • Support the design of roadway reconstruction, street widening, intersection improvements, and neighborhood mobility projects.
  • Assist with paving and drainage improvements, utility coordination, ADA upgrades, and complete streets initiatives.
  • Prepare PS&E packages, engineer's estimates, specifications, and supporting technical documentation.
  • Coordinate with municipal staff, utility providers, survey teams, and subconsultants throughout project development.
  • Perform design calculations, quantity takeoffs, and cost estimates.
  • Ensure designs comply with City of Fort Worth standards, TxDOT requirements, and applicable engineering practices.
  • Participate in client meetings, public involvement efforts, and project coordination meetings.
  • Support projects from preliminary engineering and concept development through final design and construction.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering.
  • Texas EIT certification required.
  • 2+ years of roadway or transportation design experience.
  • Experience working on municipal infrastructure projects preferred.
  • Proficiency with Civil 3D and/or MicroStation/OpenRoads Designer.
  • Knowledge of roadway geometry, drainage design, utility coordination, and PS&E development.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Interest in pursuing PE licensure in Texas.
