Position Overview

A leading engineering and professional services firm in Dallas, Texas, is seeking an experienced Geotechnical Engineer with 5 or more years of professional practice. This role supports a diverse portfolio of public‑ and private‑sector projects, with responsibilities spanning technical analysis, field operations oversight, report preparation, and client coordination.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Engineering

  • Performs detailed geotechnical analyses including shallow and deep foundation design, lateral earth pressures, slope stability, soil improvement, settlement, and pavement design.
  • Prepares clear, concise, and well‑supported geotechnical engineering reports, calculations, and recommendations.
  • Reviews subsurface data and applies sound engineering judgment to develop practical solutions aligned with local soil conditions throughout North Texas.

Field Oversight & Investigation Planning

  • Develops scopes of work for subsurface exploration programs, laboratory testing, field investigations, and geotechnical characterization.
  • Provides technical direction to drilling crews, field staff, and laboratories as needed.
  • Ensures field activities conform to project requirements, safety protocols, and industry standards.

Project Coordination & Communication

  • Coordinates with clients, contractors, and internal team members to ensure efficient project execution.
  • Supports project managers in developing proposals, budgets, and schedules.
  • Participates in project meetings and provides engineering support during construction phases when required.

Quality Assurance & Professional Practice

  • Upholds high technical standards and adheres to firmwide quality control procedures.
  • Maintains current knowledge of applicable codes, standards, and local geotechnical practices.
  • Represents the firm with professionalism, integrity, and a commitment to client satisfaction.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering required; Master's degree in Geotechnical Engineering preferred.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) in Texas, or the ability to obtain state licensure promptly.
  • Minimum of 5 years of geotechnical engineering experience, ideally within the Texas market.
  • Proficiency in geotechnical engineering software and standard analytical methods.
  • Strong technical writing, organization, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments and meet deadlines in a collaborative work environment.
