Position Summary
The Project Engineer will be responsible for roadway and transportation engineering design, applying established engineering principles to interpret, organize, execute, and coordinate project assignments.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- Design transportation improvements for roadways, interchanges, intersection upgrades, sidewalks, and trail projects.
- Review and analyze survey reports, maps, drawings, aerial photography, and topographic/geologic data for project planning.
- Perform engineering calculations and design computations.
- Develop designs in accordance with client standards using industry‑standard software.
- Prepare construction cost estimates.
- Assist in the development of engineering documents for advertisement and construction, including contract plans and specifications.
- Participate in decisions related to project scoping, budgeting, and progress monitoring.
- Attend meetings with clients and project stakeholders.
- Coordinate with internal team members to ensure timely, high‑quality project delivery.
- Direct and oversee project sub‑consultants and in‑house technical disciplines.
- Plan, schedule, and coordinate detailed phases of engineering work.
Nonessential Functions
- Perform additional related duties as assigned.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in OpenRoads 3D Modeling and MicroStation.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Required Experience
- Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a related discipline from an ABET‑accredited program.
- 5-10 years of experience in transportation or a related engineering specialty.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional Engineer (PE) license.
- Experience working with local, county, or state transportation agencies.
