Position Summary

The Project Engineer will be responsible for roadway and transportation engineering design, applying established engineering principles to interpret, organize, execute, and coordinate project assignments.


Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Design transportation improvements for roadways, interchanges, intersection upgrades, sidewalks, and trail projects.
  • Review and analyze survey reports, maps, drawings, aerial photography, and topographic/geologic data for project planning.
  • Perform engineering calculations and design computations.
  • Develop designs in accordance with client standards using industry‑standard software.
  • Prepare construction cost estimates.
  • Assist in the development of engineering documents for advertisement and construction, including contract plans and specifications.
  • Participate in decisions related to project scoping, budgeting, and progress monitoring.
  • Attend meetings with clients and project stakeholders.
  • Coordinate with internal team members to ensure timely, high‑quality project delivery.
  • Direct and oversee project sub‑consultants and in‑house technical disciplines.
  • Plan, schedule, and coordinate detailed phases of engineering work.

Nonessential Functions

  • Perform additional related duties as assigned.

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in OpenRoads 3D Modeling and MicroStation.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Required Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a related discipline from an ABET‑accredited program.
  • 5-10 years of experience in transportation or a related engineering specialty.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • Experience working with local, county, or state transportation agencies.
