MEP Estimator (Washington DC Based)

Position: MEP Estimator

Overview:
We are looking for a detail-oriented and driven MEP Estimator with a strong background in fire protection, plumbing, mechanical, and electrical (FP/P/M/E) systems. The ideal candidate will have several years of experience in construction estimating and a degree in a relevant field such as Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, Architecture, or Mathematics. This role involves preparing accurate cost estimates, conducting quantity takeoffs, coordinating with subcontractors, and contributing to value engineering efforts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform detailed quantity takeoffs and cost estimates for FP/P/M/E scopes.
  • Develop scope sheets and bid tabulations for subcontractor pricing.
  • Prepare milestone budgets and maintain historical cost data.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to align estimates with project goals.
  • Analyze construction documents and specifications to ensure accurate pricing.
  • Support preconstruction efforts with systems studies and cost comparisons.
  • Maintain strong relationships with subcontractors and industry partners.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, Architecture, Mathematics, or a related field.
  • Several years of experience in MEP estimating or the broader construction industry.
  • At least 2 years of experience in multifamily construction is preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Familiarity with digital takeoff tools such as On-Screen Takeoff or PlanSwift.
  • Experience with estimating software, ideally Sage Estimating.
  • Strong analytical and mathematical skills.
  • Excellent organizational and communication abilities.
  • Ability to manage confidential information with discretion.
