Mid Level Structural Engineer
Position Summary
My client in Phoenix and Tucson are looking to bring in mid level structural engineers. This role involves applying foundational knowledge of structural engineering principles, materials, and methods in the design, analysis, and maintenance of buildings and related structures. The position requires strong communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to work collaboratively across disciplines.
Key Responsibilities
- Apply engineering principles to analyze and solve structural problems.
- Communicate technical information clearly through written reports, verbal communication, and technical drawings.
- Prepare structural design and analysis calculations in accordance with applicable codes and standards.
- Create and revise structural details using hand sketches, PDF editing tools, CAD, or modeling software.
- Edit and review structural drawings and specifications.
- Interpret architectural and consultant plans and specifications.
- Coordinate with other disciplines such as architecture, mechanical, and electrical engineering.
- Conduct research on design alternatives and document findings.
- Evaluate existing structures for code compliance.
- Develop familiarity with a wide range of building materials and associated design standards.
- Participate in client meetings and project discussions.
- Estimate engineering and drafting efforts for various project types.
- Manage time effectively to meet deadlines and stay within budget.
- Uphold professional ethics and organizational values.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a closely related field from an accredited institution.
- Minimum of two years of professional experience in structural engineering.
- A Master's degree may substitute for one year of experience.
- Possession of an Engineering-In-Training (EIT) certification is required.
Skills:
- Proficiency in interpreting technical documents and preparing reports and correspondence.
- Strong mathematical skills, including advanced concepts and statistical analysis.
- Ability to apply logical and scientific reasoning to complex problems.
- Familiarity with design, drafting, and modeling software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit), as well as general office and internet applications.
Physical & Work Environment Requirements
- Occasional physical activity including standing, walking, and light lifting (up to 10 lbs).
- Visual acuity for close and distance work, color differentiation, and depth perception.
- Typical office environment with moderate noise levels.
