Role Overview
The Operations Support Manager (M&E) acts as a regional operations backbone, supporting site teams across APAC in delivering consistent, safe, efficient, and compliant data center operations. This role centers on electrical, mechanical, and controls systems governance, incident/change management, risk reduction, documentation standards, vendor/PM management, and operational reporting.
The ideal candidate is an M&E professional with deep experience in mission‑critical environments and a strong understanding of operational processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Engineering Operations Governance
- Ensure consistent operations standards for electrical, mechanical, and controls systems, including UPS, batteries, switchgear, generators, transformers, chillers, cooling towers, CRAH/CRAC, fuel systems, water systems, and fire systems.
- Review and validate SOPs, MOPs, EOPs, lock-out/tag-out procedures, and maintenance methods.
- Support lifecycle planning for M&E systems, upgrades, replacements, and resilience enhancements.
- Incident, Change & Problem Management (ITIL-Aligned)
- Lead or coordinate engineering-focused incident response including fault isolation, system restoration, and RCA quality for power and cooling events.
- Govern regional Change Management (especially live electrical/mechanical work).
- Track and monitor preventive actions tied to reliability, engineering risk, and compliance.
- Maintenance & Vendor Management
- Drive APAC‑wide maintenance strategy, ensuring 100% PM completion, quality audits, and contractor safety adherence.
- Review technical maintenance reports, test sheets, trending data, and recommend improvements.
- Manage contracts for critical vendors (M&E, controls, standby power, fire systems).
- Capacity, Availability & Risk Monitoring
- Support engineering capacity management for power, cooling, and space, including provisioning checks and risk assessments.
- Drive resilience reviews, single‑points‑of‑failure identification, and redundancy verification.
- Collaborate with site teams to improve equipment performance, thermal optimization, and energy efficiency.
- Monitoring & Controls Systems
- Support the governance of BMS, EPMS, DCIM systems from an engineering perspective (alarm rules, thresholds, calibration, trending integrity).
- Partner with Engineering on telemetry accuracy, load studies, and fault pattern analysis.
- Compliance, Quality & Audit Support
- Maintain engineering compliance to international standards (e.g., ISO 50001, ISO 27001, ISO 45001, ISO 9001) and local codes per market.
- Support certification audits, customer technical audits, authority-related inspections, and internal engineering audits.
- Manage regional risk registers and corrective action plans.
- Operational Reporting & Customer Support
- Produce engineering‑focused operational dashboards: availability metrics, PM status, incidents, risk, thermal performance, capacity, PUE.
- Support Customer Success with technical clarifications, onboarding reviews, and post‑incident communication.
- Participate in customer engineering tours or audits when required.
- New Data Center Readiness
- Support testing and commissioning (T&C) processes from an operator's standpoint.
- Review engineering documentation: AS‑Built drawings, O&M manuals, sequence of operations.
- Ensure M&E readiness for operational handover (including spares, calibrated tools, CMMS data load, operational runbooks).

Qualifications & Experience
Must-Have
- Bachelor's degree or diploma in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
- 8-12+ years in mission‑critical facility operations (data centers preferred, or semiconductor, pharma, large industrial plant).
- strong knowledge of:
- LV/HV electrical systems
- UPS, batteries, generators, fuel
- Cooling plants (chillers, cooling towers, pumps)
- CRAC/CRAH/airflow management
- Fire detection & suppression
- Experience reviewing and approving SOP/MOP/EOP for high‑risk engineering work.
- Experience with BMS/EPMS/DCIM data review for engineering decision‑making.
- Strong familiarity with CMMS/CAFM tools for maintenance workflows.
Preferred
- Professional certifications:
- Uptime ATS/AE, BICSI DCDC, DCPRO, PMP, ITIL v4, ISO auditor
- Experience in multi‑site or regional engineering governance
- Exposure to customer‑facing incident communication
